JUST TO SAY ALL THE STAFF WERE KIND AND HELPFUL.I HAVE BEEN TO THE HOSPITAL ON FEW OCCASIONS. WELL DONE TO ALL THE STAFF
all in all my visit to the hospital and staff were excellent
Some wards are better at providing information than other wards, but overall it as good care.
There were some issues with cleanliness as the toilets were communal. The toilets are situated at opposite ends of the corridor which is quite hard going when when you have mobility problems.... On the oncology wards the toilets are tiny and 1 toilets is shared beteween at least 7patiets.
Most of the staff were lovely from the domestics and house cleaning staff to the nurses and physios.
Everything went as planned. The operation was explained very well both before and after. Staff kept me well informed of what was going on with my care and treatment.
I was in Wd 33 from 23/09/14-26/09/14 following brain surgery. I felt the staff were attentive and caring and made me very comfortable during my stay. Food was also good.
All staff in the DCN unit were very committed and nothing was to much of trouble for them even taking time to chat and encourage you through your time spent in there care excellent nursing and care throughout.
Everything was perfect for me , meals and care were very efficient , however the feeling of short staff was noted , the staff who were there did the best that they were capable of .
With there being a distance from home my wife had to stay nearby in accomodation at an expense that was dificult as ive not been working with ill health . There is a need for a bunk house or similar for families .
The nurses and staff were very helpful and caring
I was recently referrd to the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh to have a pituitary tumour removed.
My initial consultation was with Mr Patrick Stathem, I found him to be a superb, understanding consultant who took time to listen and discuss all the "pros and cons" of having the operation and what to expect during and after my operation. No question was silly to him and every question I asked was answered.
Mr Rob Sutherland, another dedicated member of a superb team at the WGH. Mr Sutherland took time out to meet with me during my pre-op to discuss various anesthetic methods would be suitable for me during my operation. I was completly put at ease, everything was explained thouroughly before my operation and again my questions were all answered.
I can give nothing but praise for a superb team of dedicated professionals at WGH, from Mr Stathem, Dr Rob Sutherland, the theater staff and nurses. I cannot fault any part of the care / after care and attention I received during my stay with them.
We all so often take the NHS for granted and it is not untill you need their help, expertise and assistance that we realise how fortunate we are to have such truly dedicated, professionals who go the extra mile to make a difference and give you the care and attention you need.
Well done Western General Hospital, Edinburgh
Had day surgery in the breast unit - the staff could not have been more helpful - they were professional and efficient and very pleasant as well.
